Although the Cocker Spaniel is the smallest in the Sporting Group of dogs, they are hardly timid. These speedy pups are a pleasure to have around. They date back to the 14th century and been exhibited in the States for over a hundred years. From the moment it hit the show ring the Cocker has engaged audiences and remains one of the most popular AKC breeds. They are extremely smart — they only retrieve when they are commanded to and they'll conquer land or water to do it.
