American, 1858-1927
Gustav Muss-Arnold has a long history with the American Kennel Club. He was born in Germany and emigrated to the States in his early thirties. He lived and worked in New York City and Tuckahoe, New York. Most well known for his depiction of sporting dogs, Muss-Arnold served on the Board of Directors of the American Kennel Club from 1906 to 1909. He also produced one hundred and seventy illustrations for the American Kennel Club Gazette. Muss-Arnold wrote and illustrated articles for Harper’s Weekly and was a contributor to the National Academy of Design annual exhibitions. |
